Job summary

Belay Technologies in Columbia, Maryland is seeking a Junior Software Engineer (SWE1) to design and implement complex algorithms, balance timing and resource constraints, and perform quality control on team products, working with system and hardware engineers to derive requirements.

You will participate in software development, contribute to documentation improvements, and help install and monitor software systems to ensure operational specifications are met and reviewed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field required.
  • 4 years experience can substitute for a degree.
  • 7 years of experience in similar scope programs required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex algorithms with timing and resource constraints.
  • Coordinate with system/hardware engineers to derive software requirements.
  • Perform quality control on team products and improve processes.

Belay Technologies is seeking a Junior Software Engineer (SWE1) to support our intel team. The SWE shall design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team products. The SWE confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. The SWE coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met. The SWE implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.

Candidates should have the following qualifications:
  • TS/SCI with Full Scope poly is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
Candidates are required to have the following skills:
  • Proven project management experience within an operations related field
  • Ability to build strong relationships in cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to lead the project team to develop great, innovative, high quality products that exceed customer expectations with a sense of urgency for completion
  • Proven ability and experience with project management tools such as MS Project, WBS, FMEA, Risk Analysis, Planisware, and SAP for budget tracking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including formal presentation skills and ability to translate technical and non-technical communications based on audience understanding
  • Solid organizational, multi-tasking and team building skills
  • Provide support to the development and maintenance of tools on the UI Team
  • Experienced with the following: Angular 12/13, Typescript, Python 3, Pandas, PIL/Pillow, Wand/Imagemagick, Docker
  • Support development of GUIs to enable non-technical analysts to review and interact with data
