Teradyne, a global test and automation leader based in North Reading, MA, seeks a Software Engineer for its AI team to design a durable enablement layer for agentic workflows and to partner with AI/ML engineers across the globe.

You will develop core platform libraries, expose tools via clean APIs/SDKs, uphold strong engineering practices, and deliver enterprise-grade software that accelerates Teradyne’s innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong C# skills and solid software design/architecture knowledge.
• Proficiency in Python for real-world applications.
• Working understanding of Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts.
• Experience designing interfaces, APIs, or SDKs that others use.
• Strong fundamentals: clean code, automated tests, version control, code reviews.
• Experience with cloud platforms and Windows-based development environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and maintenance of core software platform and libraries enabling agentic workflows.
• Develop clean interfaces, APIs, and SDKs exposing tools in a reusable way.
• Maintain strong engineering practices: architecture, testing, reviews, documentation.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to support Agentic AI use cases without owning models/workflows.
• Work with global teams (PM, QA, security, UX) to deliver scalable enterprise-grade software.
• Contribute creative technical input to brainstorming, product shaping, and process improvements.

Opportunity Overview

As a Software Engineer on Teradyne’s AI team, you will help unlock the power of agentic workflows using Teradyne’s automated test software tools. This role focuses on designing a durable, well-architected software enablement layer that allows engineering teams to build consistent, reusable, and scalable solutions. You will partner closely with AI/ML engineers and global cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-grade software that advances Teradyne’s innovation strategy.

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of the core software platform and libraries that enable agentic workflows with Teradyne’s tool suite.
• Develop clean, well-documented interfaces, APIs, and software development kits that expose Teradyne’s tools in a consistent, reusable way.
• Ensure strong software engineering practices, including sound architecture, clean code, automated testing, code reviews, and clear documentation.
• Partner with AI/ML engineers to ensure the enablement layer supports Agentic AI use cases without owning the model or workflow internals.
• Collaborate with global teams, including program management, QA, security, and UX, to deliver scalable, enterprise-grade software.
• Support brainstorming, product-shaping, process improvement, and team culture initiatives with creative technical input.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; graduate degree preferred.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience building production-quality systems.
• Strong C# skills and a solid command of modern software design and architecture.
• Proficiency in Python for real-world application development.
• Working understanding of Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts, including the Model Context Protocol.
• Proven experience designing and building well-structured interfaces, APIs, or SDKs that other engineers build on.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, automated testing, version control, and code reviews.
• Experience with cloud platforms and Windows-based development environments.
• Demonstrated use of AI-powered tools to accelerate software development.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a global team.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $129,600 - $207,400. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
