Job summary

Teradyne is offering an AI Engineering Intern role within its Cooperative Education and Internship program in the United States. You will work on applied AI initiatives, including autonomous agent design, LLMs, and intelligent decision-making systems for test and measurement applications.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore model training, data generation, and integration of AI capabilities into engineering software platforms.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in CS, EE, CE, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to build end-to-end AI or software systems.
  • Proficiency in Python and libraries (NumPy, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar).
  • Experience designing agent-based or autonomous systems with structured decision logic is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with large language models and modern AI development tools.
  • Exposure to test, measurement, or hardware instrumentation concepts is a plus.
  • Experience with AI orchestration or agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement autonomous AI agent systems with intelligent decision-making and structured output.
  • Develop and fine-tune machine learning models, including large language models, for engineering applications.
  • Support synthetic data generation, data preparation, and model evaluation pipelines.
  • Integrate AI agent workflows with instrumentation and software platforms.
  • Collaborate with software and engineering teams to prototype and validate AI-enabled solutions.
  • Document experiments, model behavior, and results for reproducibility.

As an AI Engineering Intern, you will work on applied AI initiatives involving autonomous agent design, large language models (LLMs), and intelligent decision-making systems for test and measurement applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore model training, data generation, and the integration of AI capabilities into engineering software platforms. This role offers hands‑on experience building practical AI systems in a real-world engineering environment. We welcome students in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields with strong programming and AI backgrounds.

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Compensation

The base hourly range for this role is $25.50-$47.00. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
