The Role

We're hiring a Software Engineer to take over a seat on one of our most technically interesting programs: embedding NGS geospatial and tactical data link capability inside a partner's command and control platform used by U.S. military commands across multiple operational theaters.

The work is Go on the backend. You'll build and maintain services that parse, route, and translate tactical messages between military networks and modern IP-based systems, then expose that data through APIs the partner's platform consumes. There is also front-end work in React when the mission needs a map, a form, or an operator view built on top of what you just wired up.

You will be working alongside a distributed development team at the partner company, in their tracker, on their release schedule, with our engineers. Being effective across company and time zone boundaries matters as much here as the code does.

We're open on level. If you have a few solid years and the right instincts, we'll bring you in as a Journeyman and pair you with a senior engineer. If you've done this before and can own the integration end to end, come in as a Senior and run it.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Go services for tactical message parsing, routing, and translation
• Integrate NGS capability into a partner platform through APIs, message brokers, and shared data models
• Build and extend React front-end components for operator-facing views and configuration
• Deploy and troubleshoot in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Work day to day with a distributed partner engineering team: sprint planning, code reviews, joint debugging, release coordination
• Support integration events, demos, and test activity, including occasional troubleshooting under time pressure
• Follow secure coding practices and support DoD security and configuration requirements

Required

• Professional software engineering experience building production backend services. Journeyman: 3+ years. Senior: 8+ years.
• Strong Go, or strong systems-level experience in C/C++/Java/Rust with demonstrated ability to pick up Go quickly
• Experience integrating software with military or tactical systems. This is the part we can't teach fast. It can be tactical data links (Link-16, VMF, JREAP, Link-11/22), C2 and situational awareness systems (GCCS, AFATDS, TAK, ATAK), military messaging and standards work, or sensor and radio integration. Depth is welcome, exposure is enough.
• Comfort with network programming: TCP/UDP, multicast, binary protocols, byte-level message formats
• Linux, Git, and modern CI/CD workflows
• U.S. citizenship. Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred, otherwise ability to obtain and maintain one.

Preferred

• Full-stack capability with React and TypeScript
• Kubernetes and container orchestration in production
• Experience working remotely on a distributed or multi-company development team
• Familiarity with geospatial data and GIS concepts (coordinate systems, spatial formats, map services), or tools like PostGIS, GeoServer, CesiumJS
• Prior DoD or IC program experience
• Military service in a communications, data links, or C4I role
