Job summary

NC State University seeks a Software Engineer for the SPEED program, a national autonomous-experiment facility. You will build and maintain backend services, APIs, and tools that orchestrate experiments across robotics, instruments, data systems, and AI components in both cloud and on-prem environments.

You will integrate workflow orchestration, scheduling, and monitoring, ensuring robust deployment, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Experience building production APIs and backend services.
• Proficiency in Python and Linux development environments.
• Experience with Git, testing, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services, APIs, and experiment-submission tools for SPEED.
• Integrate workflow orchestration, scheduling, and job queues.
• Connect robotics, instruments, data services, and AI tools.
• Deploy cloud and local services, containers, authentication, logging, and monitoring.
• Provide technical demonstrations and onboarding for SPEED users.
• Support platform commissioning and troubleshooting for internal and external users.
