Job description

Kongsberg Discovery is growing, and we want you to be part of our journey. Join our Software Development team and contribute to the development of advanced monitoring and sensing solutions for both commercial and naval applications. Our product portfolio includes subsea leak detection systems, condition monitoring systems for rotating machinery, and acoustic monitoring solutions supporting naval operations worldwide.

The Software Engineer Signal Processing will contribute to the development and implementation of advanced signal processing software used in monitoring, surveillance, and sensing systems for commercial and naval applications.

The role is suitable for recent graduates or early-career engineers with a strong academic foundation in signal processing, mathematics, and software engineering. The position offers the opportunity to work with real-world acoustic and sensor data while developing practical expertise in beamforming, array processing, source localization, detection, and tracking.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced software, systems, and signal processing engineers, contributing to algorithm development, software implementation, testing, and system integration while building domain expertise and technical competence.

Recent graduates with a strong academic background and a passion for signal processing and software development are encouraged to apply.

What you will be doing
  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced signal processing algorithms for real‑time and offline applications
  • Develop and optimize algorithms for beamforming, array processing, and source localization
  • Implement and optimize signal processing solutions in production‑grade software
  • Work with data from acoustic sensors and measurement systems, including filtering, spectral analysis, detection, localization, and tracking
  • Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to ensure optimal end‑to‑end system performance
  • Participate in software architecture and design reviews
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and improve existing algorithms and software implementations
We think you should have
  • Master's degree in Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong theoretical foundation in signal processing, including topics such as FFT, filtering, time‑frequency analysis, detection, estimation, and spectral analysis
  • Experience with software development through academic projects, internships, thesis work, or personal projects using C#, .NET, C/C++, Python, or similar technologies
  • Interest in signal processing, acoustics, sensor systems, and real‑world monitoring applications
  • Knowledge of beamforming, array processing, or source localization is an advantage
  • Experience working with real‑world sensor data through academic or research projects is beneficial
  • Familiarity with Linux‑based development environments is an advantage
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team
What you bring
  • Exposure to real‑time or embedded systems through academic projects, internships, or personal projects is an advantage
  • Knowledge of industrial, subsea, energy, instrumentation, or related engineering domains is beneficial
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for signal processing and data analysis
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git) and modern software development practices
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines through coursework, projects, or internships is an advantage
  • Eagerness to learn and develop expertise in signal processing and software engineering
