Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison seeks a Software Engineer/Developer III to join the Division of Enrollment Management. Under supervision, you will analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions SIS and its integrations to support a robust institutional tech infra.

Qualifications

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director - Student Enterprise Applications, this position will join a team of developers and other IT professionals to analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Student Information System (SIS) and its integrations in support of establishing a sustainable institutional technological infrastructure.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • 5%: Reviews application modules for quality assurance and checks compliance with application architecture standards
  • 5%: Conducts analysis for the evaluation and selection of vendor software solutions and packages
  • 5%: Leads sub-functional team for application development or enhancement
  • 30%: Reviews application design specifications, codes new applications, and makes enhancements to existing applications
  • 5%: Contributes to the development of data structure and systems performance strategies
  • 5%: Trains and provides technical guidance to lower level staff
  • 5%: Unique Responsibility - Meet the documented Office of the Registrar standards including but not limited to: standards in customer service, participation, communications, professional development, and testing of processes/systems. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • 5%: Unique Responsibility - Demonstrates commitment to the University’s mission statement, particularly to be sensitive and responsive to those groups which have been underserved by higher
  • 5%: Designs and implements test plans, and prepares systems test data
  • 5%: Prepares program documentation and training requirements
  • 20%: Develops, prepares, or modifies technical specifications for complex projects, system integrations, and upgrades
  • 5%: Conducts systems analysis, reviews and interprets system requirements, and develops detailed system design specifications for system integration and upgrades

Compensation:

The minimum salary is $85,000. Salary is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalists. Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated data management and analytical skills, including the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze data effectively, and develop and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience with Oracle PeopleSoft application development
  • Expertise in PeopleTools technologies (e.g. Application Engine, PeopleCode, Integration Broker, SQR)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in PeopleSoft Application development or other Enterprise Resource Planning software (ERP) supporting Campus Solutions Campus Community, Student Records, Curriculum Management
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools, such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Familiarity with Informatica
  • Familiarity with restful APIs
  • Familiarity with Gideon Taylor eForms
  • Knowledge of University Registrar best practices as they relate to student records, student services, and registration business processes and systems
Education:

Associate's degree preferred
