Job summary

PayPal Data Services, Inc. seeks a Software Engineer in Austin, TX to design, build, and test high-throughput, distributed back-end systems. You will craft object-oriented software, participate in code reviews, and optimize web platforms for performance and reliability.

Responsibilities include interfacing with web platform teams, building scalable microservices, and delivering UI integrations with front-end APIs. Strong AWS ECS, Java, TypeScript, Ruby, and SQL skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or closely related field plus 1 year of experience required.
• Develop, test, and maintain software components and features for AWS ECS.
• Experience with Java for backend and TypeScript/Ruby for software solutions.
• Develop web apps using JavaScript, jQuery, and AngularJS; migrate pages to Angular frameworks.
• Design and implement responsive web interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Develop SQL procedures, triggers, and PL/SQL for performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed applications.
• Develop and test high-throughput back-end software systems.
• Lead code reviews and address support requests in a timely manner.
• Interface with platform teams to align backlogs with roadmaps.
• Build scalable, configurable software with strong reliability and performance characteristics.
