Reality Labs Research (RL-R) brings together a highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers with a broad range of experiences, perspectives, approaches, and backgrounds to create the future of augmented and virtual reality.Our team aims to define the worldwide standard for extended reality (XR) interaction with unparalleled software that accelerates research and creates novel functionality.This requires a passion for accelerating researchers building models in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) research. In our collaborative environment, you’ll partner with expert research scientists, hardware engineers, and software developers to build groundbreaking interaction hardware. You will tackle interesting technical challenges in AI to revolutionize how people interact with computing devices. **Required Skills:**

Software Engineer - Research Systems Responsibilities:

1. Automate training of machine learning models on many different types of data

2. Collaborate with researchers to determine what data to collect and annotate

3. Support researchers in training new models and automating workflows

4. Collaborate with users to understand usability issues and develop solutions

5. Collect usage metrics and develop features to increase developer/research experience

6. Develop tests and processes to ensure software stability and correctness

7. Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail while advocating for higher product quality and engineering efficiency

8. Develop backend software used by annotators to label data and enable researchers who use the resulting datasets

9. Code using primarily C/C++, Java, Rust or Python

10. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

11. 3+ years of experience with Python/Jupyter software development

12. Experience with SQL databases

13. Experience with scripting languages

14. Proven track record of shipping software

15. Experience with software development practices such as source control, code reviews, unit testing, and debugging

16. Collaborator with communication experience across teams of varying knowledge of components

**Public Compensation:**

$70.67/hour to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
