Job description

Help improve radar performance through real-world data, experiments, and software.

MatrixSpace is at the forefront of developing the next generation of AI-enabled sensing solutions. Our cutting-edge low SWaP-C radar technology combines RF sensing, and AI-enabled real-time edge processing to sense, detect, and recognize objects in any situation. This groundbreaking capability has broad applications across multiple vertical markets, delivering unparalleled value to our customers.

We are looking for a Radar Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will use experimental data to understand how the system behaves in the real world, design experiments to measure and explain that behavior, and translate insights into improvements to signal processing and state estimation algorithms.

Responsibilities:
  • Use real radar data to characterize system performance and translate insights into the tuning, selection, and development of algorithms.
  • Develop and maintain C++ software for radar system components including signal processing, detection, tracking, and control.
  • Develop low-latency, deterministic systems that meet strict timing and reliability requirements.
  • Architect software components with an emphasis on clarity, testability, and maintainability.
  • Use your knowledge of sensors and embedded systems to understand radar performance cause and effect relationships.
  • Debug complex issues across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Support integration and testing of radar software in lab and field environments.
What We're Looking For

This position requires working directly or indirectly with the US Government in restricted environments. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and may be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance in the future.

Required Skills:
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong proficiency in C++ .
  • Deep understanding of real-time constraints (latency, determinism, scheduling, concurrency)
  • Ability to design experiments, define meaningful metrics, and use data to draw clear conclusions.
  • Ability to understand how aspects of the hardware, software and algorithms work to produce results in the field.
  • Experience with multi-dimensional data analysis
  • Data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • An understanding of good object-oriented software design practices.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas and results, both verbally and in writing.
Someone Who Will Thrive in This Role
  • Has a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Is naturally curious about how things work and enjoys digging into unexpected system behavior.
  • Is excited by radar technology and interested in understanding the physics behind what the system measures.
  • Is persistent when investigating difficult problems and willing to follow the evidence wherever it leads.
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment and values both giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Bonus Points:
  • An understanding of and/or hands-on experience with signal processing and/or RF sensor/communication systems.
  • Experience with first-principles based modeling and simulation to augment system data during issue investigation and/or feature development
  • Experience using Modern C++ (i.e. 11+)
Requirements:
  • Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related engineering field.
  • Occasional travel (<10%).
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and may be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance in the future.
