Job summary

Medix in Henderson, NV is seeking a Software Engineer with strong Python and AWS skills to develop and support backend features that handle healthcare data. You will join an established engineering team to build new backend features, improve workflows, and keep production systems running reliably.

The role is roughly 60% development and 40% application support. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, proficiency with Python, SQL, and AWS, and familiarity

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software or application development experience.
• Strong Python, SQL, and AWS skills, including experience building cloud-native applications.
• Experience with relational databases and backend integrations.
• Familiarity with source control, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Healthcare data experience; medical or pharmacy claims experience is especially valuable.
• The ability to take ownership of work while contributing closely with an established team.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, serverless functions, and data processing workflows.
• Develop application features and integrations using Python, SQL, and AWS.
• Work with services such as Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, Glue, S3, RDS/Aurora, and Redshift.
• Write and tune SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
• Investigate production issues, fix defects, and improve performance and reliability.
• Contribute to automated tests, GitHub workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployments.
• Collaborate with engineers, product partners, and analysts throughout development and ongoing support.
• Apply appropriate security controls when handling sensitive healthcare information.
