Job description

Figma is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to make design accessible to all. Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, design and build better products - from start to finish. Whether it's consolidating tools, simplifying workflows, or collaborating across teams and time zones, Figma makes the design process faster, more efficient, and fun while keeping everyone on the same page. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone—come make with us!

We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced engineer to join Figma as we explore new frontiers in collaborative tooling across product teams, and to help answer the question: "What if there's an even better way to build products?" This role offers a unique opportunity to work on 0-to-1 products that will redefine how teams across the globe create, manage, and collaborate on digital content throughout the entire development lifecycle.

You'll work closely with design, product management, and research teams to help our users turn imagination into reality by radically streamlining how ideas transform into products - and you will do so in a way that keeps simple things simple, while making complex things possible. If you thrive in open-ended environments and are eager to solve some of the most complicated people-problems in our industry, we want to hear from you.

This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:
  1. Lead the development and launch of new features and products, from ideation through to shipping.
  2. Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, content marketers, designers, and researchers to define and execute on the product roadmap.
  3. Engage in brainstorming sessions and technical discussions that influence the direction of our strategy.
  4. Contribute to and drive the technical vision for our next generation of products and frameworks, working in a dynamic environment where iteration and candid feedback are essential.
  5. Participate in all stages of development, including engineering and design crits, code reviews, and user testing, to ensure we build something that truly delights our users.
  6. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • 3+ years of experience in programming languages (Typescript/Javascript, React, C++, Python, Java, Objective-C, Go, or Rust)
  • A focus on impact, with the ability to achieve meaningful outcomes and speak to the metrics behind the work.
  • Strong cross-team and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with the full development lifecycle, from concept to launch, including go-to-market strategies.
  • Experience in and a desire to teach fellow engineers through pairing, code review, and in-the-moment feedback.
While not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
  • Experience working with complex data models and applications that require dynamic, user-facing content delivery at scale.
  • Experience leading development on large-scale web applications or native applications.
  • Familiarity with product design and the user research process, and the ability to engage with these functions to do your best work.
  • Demonstrated fluency in React, C++, and WebGL.
At Figma, one of our values is "Grow as you go." We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
