Job summary

Independent Software seeks a Software Engineer Level 2 to develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical enterprise applications processing large volumes of data. You will use Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and relational databases to build scalable software while supporting modernization and deployment in Kubernetes environments.

You will collaborate with an Agile team to improve performance, develop new capabilities, and modernize data processing systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience with Angular and front-end development.
• RESTful APIs and relational databases (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Docker or Podman and Kubernetes experience.
• Application modernization and software architecture experience.
• Technical documentation and troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java/Spring Boot and Angular applications.
• Develop RESTful APIs, service integrations, and scalable data processing solutions.
• Optimize MariaDB and other relational database queries and integrations.
• Support containerization and Kubernetes deployments using Docker or Podman.
• Participate in design reviews, debugging, and automated testing.
• Support GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Agile practices, and Jira/Confluence documentation.
• Provide backup database administration support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB.

Job description

What You Will Do:

As a Software Engineer Level 2 at Independent Software, you will develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical enterprise applications that process large volumes of operational data. You will work with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and relational databases to build scalable software solutions while supporting application modernization and deployment in Kubernetes environments.

You will collaborate with an Agile development team to improve application performance, develop new capabilities, and support the continued modernization of enterprise data processing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java/Spring Boot and Angular applications.
• Develop RESTful APIs, service integrations, and scalable data processing solutions.
• Optimize MariaDB and other relational database queries and integrations.
• Support application containerization and Kubernetes deployments using Docker or Podman.
• Participate in software design, code reviews, troubleshooting, and automated testing.
• Support GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Agile development, and technical documentation using Jira and Confluence.
• Provide backup database administration support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and recovery.
• Collaborate with team members to improve application performance, reliability, and modernization efforts.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Java development using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Angular or comparable front-end development experience.
• RESTful APIs and relational databases (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or Oracle).
• Docker or Podman and Kubernetes experience.
• Application modernization and software architecture experience.
• Technical documentation and software troubleshooting experience.

Desired Skills:

• Microservices architecture and large-scale data processing.
• Kubernetes platforms such as Rancher, EKS, or OpenShift; Helm and Kubernetes resource management.
• GitLab CI/CD, automated testing, and DevSecOps.
• Jira, Confluence, and database administration experience.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED or Associate's Degree: 18 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field: 14 years of relevant software engineering experience.

Clearance Requirement:

Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
