Job summary

The Computer Merchant, LTD. seeks a Software Engineer with AI-enabled development experience to support the UK National Airspace System Replacement Product Delivery Team.

The role is based in Gaithersburg, MD with a hybrid schedule onsite three days a week and remote two days, and may involve collaboration with teams in Eagan, MN or Egg Harbor, NJ. You will design and maintain software for real-time, high-availability systems, leverage AI tools, and ensure compliant SDLC practices while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related with 4+ years experience, or Master's with 2+ years.
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming.
• Experience with C, C++, and Ada; real-time, multi-threaded systems.
• Familiarity with Linux (Red Hat), VMs, and hypervisors.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, SCTP and low-level protocols.
• Experience with hardware integration and complex system interactions.
• Proficient in source control and configuration management tools.
• Excellent communication and ability to work autonomously or in cross-functional teams.
• Eligibility to obtain Public Trust clearance; US citizen.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for real-time, high-availability systems.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance coding, refactoring, debugging, and automated test creation.
• Implement AI responsibly throughout the SDLC (requirements, design, implementation, testing, docs, reviews).
• Analyze complex system requirements and convert them into efficient designs.
• Create and uphold automation scripts across development, testing, and production environments.
• Promote code quality, reuse, traceability, and cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Masters degree with 2 years of relevant experience
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming
• Skilled in C, C++, and/or Ada (Ada preferred but not mandatory)
