Job description

Job Summary

As the Principal Edge Software Architect, you will define the structural integrity of our software across multiple product lines. You will ensure alignment with Open Architecture principles (such as SOSA/MOSA) and drive the long‑term strategy for heterogeneous computing. You will lead the transition of prototypes into programs of record, mentoring the engineering team and making high‑stakes technical decisions regarding the allocation of workloads across CPUs, GPUs, and FPGAs.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Architecture: Define and enforce modular software architectures that ensure strict separation of concerns and maximize code reuse across different projects, specifically focusing on hardware‑agnostic GPU acceleration.
  • Algorithm Strategy: Oversee the implementation of complex signal processing and system autonomy algorithms, ensuring consistent system performance by leveraging edge AI and parallel processing capabilities.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead agile development cycles, mentor senior engineers in GPGPU best practices, and drive the adoption of modern DevSecOps.
  • Performance Engineering: Define system‑level performance budgets (latency, thermal, SWaP) and architect software solutions that maximize the utility of embedded GPUs in constrained environments.
  • Customer Engagement: Lead technical discussions with customers and partners. Articulate the value of our open software approach and ensure our designs meet evolving government standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to program security requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance; active clearance preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams in a structured software product development environment.
  • Strong organizational and technical communication skills, including presenting to internal and government stakeholders.
  • Seven to ten years of software engineering design experience.
  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams through the full development lifecycle.
Preferences
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience optimizing software for SWaP (Size, Weight and Power) constrained environments.
  • Contributions to open‑source projects in the systems or HPC ecosystems.
  • Experience with heterogeneous computing platforms (CPU/GPU/FPGA) and frameworks like NVIDIA, Jetpack, or Holoscan.
Skills
  • Architecture: Proven track record of architecting compliant systems using open standards (e.g., SOSA, FACE, MOSA). Expertise in distributed systems and parallel execution patterns.
  • Technical Depth: Deep knowledge of Computer Architecture (specifically GPU/NPU accelerators), RF Physics, or Digital Signal Processing. Capable of reviewing code and designs for safety and performance.
  • Domain: Broad understanding of the defense mission space, including SIGINT, EW, or Communications capabilities.

Salary Range: $127,236—$192,900 USD. Compensation may vary based on location, experience, and performance.

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120–130) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730–774), applicants for this position must be a U.S. person: a U.S. Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C.
