Software Systems Engineer – Edge Computing

With rapid growth driven by new programs and acquisitions, the company is expanding its engineering team to support next-generation ISR and edge computing platforms.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Software Systems Engineer to support the design and development of edge computing software systems used in advanced ISR and autonomous platforms.
In this role, you will work closely with senior architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams to design scalable, modular software solutions that operate across heterogeneous hardware platforms including CPUs, GPUs, and FPGAs.
You will contribute to system architecture, performance optimization, and the integration of advanced signal processing and AI workloads into edge environments where size, weight, power, and latency constraints are critical.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement software systems for edge computing platforms supporting ISR and autonomous systems
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate workloads across CPUs, GPUs, and FPGA-based platforms
- Contribute to modular, open architecture software frameworks aligned with modern defense standards
- Support system-level performance optimization, including latency, throughput, and resource utilization
- Participate in full software lifecycle development including design, integration, testing, and deployment
- Assist with transitioning research prototypes into operational software products
- Contribute to technical discussions with internal teams and external customers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5–8 years of software engineering or systems engineering experience
- Experience developing software in C/C++, Python, or similar languages
- Experience working with distributed or embedded computing systems
- Familiarity with parallel processing, signal processing, or edge AI workloads
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- U.S. Citizenship required with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with heterogeneous computing platforms (CPU/GPU/FPGA)
- Familiarity with GPGPU programming, CUDA, or similar acceleration frameworks
- Experience with defense systems, ISR platforms, or autonomous systems
- Knowledge of open architecture standards such as MOSA or SOSA
- Experience optimizing systems for SWaP-constrained environments
