Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a skilled Full Stack Developer to build AI-driven applications with Angular frontend and Python backend on a 12-month contract in Charlotte, NC.

You will design modern UI with Angular 19, implement NgRx state management, and design AWS infrastructure with Terraform, while collaborating with UX teams and supporting CI/CD pipelines.

This role requires 8+ years frontend, 2+ years Python, 2+ years AWS, and a passion for learning AI trends and cloud services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of frontend development experience with Angular and TypeScript.
• 2+ years backend development with Python.
• 2+ years AWS experience and AWS infrastructure design.
• Experience with NgRx state management and pixel-perfect UI from designs.
• CI/CD pipelines experience and automated deployments.
• Knowledge of Power BI implementation.
• Familiarity with Generative AI, Bedrock, and LLMs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Angular 19 front-end applications.
• Design NgRx state management and translate designs into UI.
• Collaborate with UX teams and conduct peer code reviews.
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure with Terraform.
• Integrate AWS services (Bedrock, S3, DynamoDB, RDS) and monitor via CloudWatch.

• Allocate ~5% time to application support; implement Power BI as needed.

In this role, you will design and implement modern, responsive Angular applications (preferably Angular 19) with a Python backend, leveraging the latest in generative AI and AWS technologies. You will work closely with UX teams to deliver pixel-perfect user interfaces, resolve UI/UX issues, and ensure best practices through peer code reviews. The position also involves significant backend and infrastructure responsibilities, including designing AWS infrastructure with Terraform, integrating a variety of AWS services, and supporting CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments. A commitment to continuous learning and staying current with advancements in AI and AWS is essential for success in this dynamic environment.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain responsive Angular 19 front-end applications
• Design and implement state management using NgRx (actions, reducers, etc.)
• Translate Figma/design mockups into pixel-perfect UI implementations
• Collaborate with UX teams to identify and resolve UI/UX issues
• Participate in peer reviews to ensure code quality and best practices
• Create and maintain built-in test scripts for CI/CD pipelines
• Design and implement AWS infrastructure using Terraform, including Lambda functions, API Gateway (REST endpoints, custom authorizers), RDS PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, VPC, security groups, private endpoints, S3 buckets, CloudFront, and ALB configuration
• Integrate applications with AWS services such as Bedrock LLM, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS
• Configure and monitor AWS resources using CloudWatch (monitoring, logging, alarms)
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
• Allocate approximately 5% of time to application support activities
• Implement Power BI solutions as needed
• Apply knowledge of Generative AI and large language models (LLMs) in application development
• Stay updated with advancements in AI, AWS, and related technologies, and foster a culture of continuous learning

What You Bring

• 8+ years of frontend development experience, including Angular & TypeScript
• 2+ years of backend development experience (Python preferred)
• 2+ years of experience with AWS
• Proven experience designing and implementing modern, responsive Angular applications (Angular 19 preferred)
• Proficiency in state management using NgRx
• Ability to translate Figma/design mockups into pixel-perfect implementations
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
• Knowledge of Power BI implementation
• Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, VPC, S3, CloudFront, ALB, CloudWatch)
• Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure as code
• Knowledge or strong interest in Generative AI, AWS Bedrock, and LLMs
• Strong collaboration skills with UX teams and active participation in peer code reviews
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with AI/AWS technologies
