Job summary

Lyft in New York City is seeking a Frontend Engineering Intern to own a project from day one, work with top engineers, and ship user-facing features rapidly. You will refine code through progressive refactors and strengthen reliability with comprehensive tests.

The role requires pursuing a CS degree with a 2027–2028 graduation window, strong CS fundamentals, and experience with Python, JavaScript, React, TypeScript and modern frontend tooling. Hybrid in-office schedule applies.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, with a graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
• For master's students who worked between degrees, fewer than 2 years of relevant full-time work experience.
• Summer 2027 internship availability in New York City.
• Strong CS fundamentals and experience with web technologies.

Responsibilities

• Own your project and collaborate with team members through the day.
• Refactor code to a better state with progressive improvements.

• Own your project, while checking in with other team members throughout the day with questions and updates
• You leave the code in a better state than when you found it (progressive refactor)

Experience:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science , with a graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028 (required). For any candidates who are master's students who worked between their bachelor's and master's programs: candidates should also have less than 2 years of relevant full-time work experience
• Available during Summer 2027 for an internship in New York City
• Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals
• Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
• Experience working with leading JavaScript frameworks, like React
• Experience with modern frontend testing tools, such as Webpack, Babel, Jest, Jasmine, Protractor, and WebDriver
• Understanding of how browsers and DOM work
• Experience with Git or other distributed version control systems
• Experience with browser developer tools
• Experience with the Unix command line interface
• Solid understanding of web performance
• Experience with TypeScript
• Experience with CSS preprocessors like Sass
• Understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing

The expected base pay range for this position in the New York City area is $52-$58/hour USD, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
