Job summary

General Motors in Michigan is offering Software Engineer and Software Test Engineer Intern roles for summer 2027. Interns work on real products, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and gain hands-on experience across development, testing, and deployment.

The program is hybrid, with start dates May 24 and June 14, 2027, and a 12-week schedule. Applicants must be pursuing a related bachelor's or master's degree, be able to work 40 hours per week, and onsite at a GM location.

Qualifications

• Pursuing relevant degree in computer science or engineering.
• At least one academic term remaining after internship.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours/week for a 12-week summer internship (May–Aug or Jun–Sept 2027).
• Demonstrated programming or software development through coursework/projects/experiences.
• Clear communication, collaboration, and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Interest in building reliable, customer-focused digital products.
• Ability to work onsite at the GM location with the team.

Responsibilities

• Build or enhance software features, services, APIs, tools, or automation.
• Write unit, integration, or end-to-end tests and improve quality.
• Analyze data, investigate defects, and support troubleshooting/ root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to technical designs, requirements, documentation, or delivery plans.
