Job summary

Lyft invites driven CS students to join as interns in San Francisco this Summer 2027. You will work closely with top engineers, own your project, and see live results quickly while thriving in a collaborative, in-office hybrid environment.

You will contribute to real-time systems with strong emphasis on testing, code quality, and continuous integration, making a tangible impact on riders and drivers alike.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a CS degree with graduation between Dec 2027 and Summer 2028
• Summer 2027 internship availability in San Francisco
• Strong CS fundamentals and testing knowledge
• Experience with real-time tech problems and open source contributions
• Experience with databases and mobile development

Responsibilities

• Own your project and coordinate with teammates throughout the day
• Refactor code to a better state through progressive improvements
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and load tests to ensure reliability
• Participate in code reviews to share knowledge and improve quality
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Deliver work that meaningfully improves Lyft users and drivers lives

Responsibilities:

• Own your project, while checking in with other team members throughout the day with questions and updates
• You leave the code in a better state than when you found it (progressive refactor)
• You value reliability, ensured by testing (unit, integration and load tests)
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
• Continuous integration and deployment

Experience:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, with a graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028 (required). For any candidates who are master's students who worked between their bachelor's and master's programs: candidates should also have less than 2 years of relevant full-time work experience
• Available during Summer 2027 for an internship in San Francisco
• Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals
• Understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Excellent communication skills
• Passion for community, sustainability, and/or transportation
• Ability to thrive in a startup environment
• Experience with real-time technology problems

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is USD $52-$58/hour, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
