Job summary

Zebra Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to help create software solutions for inventory on Zebra devices, including full-stack, server, Android scanner work, web reports, and databases—providing an end-to-end solution for customers.

You will join a hybrid role (3 days in office) at our Holtsville, NY campus, contributing to logging, API development, age registration processes, and AI data components, while gaining mentorship and hands-on experiences in a collaborative

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar.
• Cybersecurity or Artificial Intelligence minor preferred but not required.
• Anticipated graduation date 2027–2029.
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Assist on two project paths: logging for cyclecount product and API/customer self-service registration.
• Work on data consumption/AI learning for new AI component releases (helpdesk chatbots and data queries).
• Contribute to improvements of customer API creation and administration and build self-serve API registrations.
• Support migration of API to self-service registration and enhance internal APIs.

What We're Looking For:

The purpose of this internship is to prepare students for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization. The program is designed to provide students with experiences that provide insights into a career with Zebra. Students will be positioned for success with training and hands‑on experiences, invited to social and development activities, and provided a professional mentor relationship.

Zebra Retail Solutions is part of the SAAS Business units. The Software Engineer Intern will help create software solutions for taking physical inventories on zebra devices. This includes Full Stack, server work, android scanner work, web reports, databases – full end to end solution for customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Software Engineer intern could work on one of the two projects below:

• Addition of detailed logging for our new cyclecount Product, Development of customer facing API calls for cycle count, and RFID solutions
• Migration of our API to a self-service registration process for customers
• Improvements to customer API creation and administration
• Designing and building self-serve API registrations

OR

• Data consumption and Artificial Intelligence Learning for our New AI component releases: Helpdesk chatbots and dynamic AI response/requests for data queries

This position requires hybrid work (3 days/week in office) in the Holtsville, NY office.

Required Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar
• Courses or a minor in Cybersecurity or Artificial Intelligence preferred but not required
• Must have an anticipated graduation date between 2027-2029
• Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Java, python, ASP.Net, and GIThub/JIRA
• Experience with C#, SQL, HTML/CSS, XAML, Javascript, R, RISC-VASP.NET 10, Web APIs, Node.js, React, PyTorch, WinUI, RabbitMQ preferred but not required
• Communication Skills – Clear and effective verbal and written communication
• Adaptability and Learning Agility – Willingness to learn quickly, embrace new tools or methods, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Technical Skills – Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic familiarity with technology solutions
• Integrity – Commitment to ethical behavior and confidentiality

Salary: USD $30.00-$33.00/hour
