Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Self-Managed domain. You will own the full software development lifecycle of our self-managed product artifacts, from getting started experiences to production deployments and day-2 operations.

You’ll push artifacts and processes to the next level, tackling deployment automation, software and infrastructure testing, multi-region setups, and improving developer experience across teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience building, operating and maintaining Helm Charts and Kubernetes deployments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions.
  • Infrastructure as code tooling with Terraform or similar.
  • Clear technical documentation and cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and release C8 distributions for self-managed customers (Helm Charts, Kubernetes, C8Run, Docker Compose).
  • Improve reliability and usability of deployment artifacts across local and production environments.
  • Collaborate with Development, Product, QA, Documentation, and Support to deliver tested releases.
  • Handle engineering-level support cases with the customer success team and feed learnings back to development.
  • Drive documentation and onboarding improvements for clearer customer guidance.

About the role:

We are hiring for the Self-Managed domain, which owns the full software development lifecycle of our self-managed product artifacts.This includes everything from the getting started experience to production deployments and day-2 operations.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Build, maintain, and release C8 distributions for our self-managed customers, covering Helm Charts (Kubernetes), C8Run, Docker Compose, and related documentation.
  • Improve reliability and usability of our deployment artifacts, ensuring a seamless experience from local setups to production clusters and day-2 operations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Development Teams, Product Management, Quality Assurance, Documentation, and Support to deliver integrated, tested, and documented releases.
  • Handle engineering-level support cases together with our support team to understand our customers issues and feed learnings back into development.
  • Drive documentation and onboarding improvements - turning complex systems into clear, accessible instructions that help customers succeed faster.

The Distribution team currently consists of 1 Senior and 3 Mid-level Software Engineers, operating with a strong manager-of-one mindset and cross-team collaboration.

What success looks like:

After your first three months, you have:

  • Take on your first medic and support tickets to understand our stack, customer challenges, and deployment environments.
  • Improved onboarding and documentation, transforming your own learning experience into concrete improvements.
  • Contributed to artifact fixes, CI/CD enhancements, or test automation to strengthen our release quality.
  • Delivered one structural improvement initiative, such as a smaller feature request, a test or release improvement.
  • Established strong working relationships with engineering, QA, and product peers - demonstrating ownership, manager-of-one and clarity in communication.
What You Bring:
  • Ability and/or willingness to use our product
  • Strong expertise in building, operating, and maintaining Helm Charts; deploying applications on Kubernetes; implementing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions; and managing infrastructure as code, e.g. through Terraform.
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation and communicate effectively across teams.
  • A pragmatic and autonomous approach to programming and problem solving.
  • You thrive as a manager of one - you build it, you own it - and take pride in delivering maintainable, operable software.
Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience running and operating on-prem/self-hosted software on Docker
  • Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability tools.
  • Working knowledge of the Go programming language.

Compensation

We offer competitive, fair, and transparent compensation. Salary ranges are location-based, with Standard and Major markets (global tech hubs) reflecting local competition.

The Annual Total Target Cash (base salary + 100% variable target, where applicable) shown below spans from the minimum in a Standard market to the maximum in a Major market. Final offers depend on skills, experience, and location, and we typically hire in the first half of the range to allow room for growth:

  • United States: $143,800.00 to $231,900.00
  • United Kingdom: £90,300.00 to £148,500.00
  • Singapore: S$178,600.00 to S$267,900.00

If you’re based elsewhere, you’ll be hired via Remote.com (our global employer partner), and your Talent Acquisition Partner will provide a personalized Total Rewards Calculator after your first interview.
