HYBRID/REMOTE WORK:
This position is remote eligible, with occasional in-office work at the Englewood, CO office as needed. Candidates based in the greater Denver, CO metro area are strongly preferred.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Harvest Strategy Group is seeking a Software Engineer to join our technology team, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. This role is intended for a candidate who can help modernize the systems that support Harvest’s debt placement, receivables management, compliance oversight, client implementations, and internal operations.
Harvest’s technology environment is in the midst of an active transition from an established, on-premises platform to a modern, cloud-based architecture, including a move to a new SaaS-based account management platform. This role will help stabilize and extend the existing environment while building integrations, data pipelines, and internal tools that allow the business to move from legacy processes to scalable, well-documented cloud-based workflows.
The ideal candidate has strong coding, engineering, and data-processing judgment, is comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to work efficiently without sacrificing understanding or code quality and is genuinely curious to learn Harvest's business and industry.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain, support, and troubleshoot components of Harvest's legacy technology environment, including C#/.NET applications, PowerShell scripts, SQL Server databases, ETL processes, and Visual Cron scheduled jobs.
- Support the ongoing transition to the company’s new SaaS-based account management platform, including data migration, system integration, validation, reconciliation, and process re-engineering.
- Contribute to the build-out of Harvest’s cloud-based data management infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, with attention to data quality, security, reliability, auditability, and maintainability.
- Design and build integrations connecting legacy and modern systems throughout the transition period, including APIs, file-based exchanges, scheduled jobs, data transformations, and monitoring needed to support business continuity.
- Develop backend services and, on occasion, front-end interfaces in support of internal tools and client-facing systems.
- Create and maintain high-quality, well-structured code — including thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery without sacrificing data integrity or architectural soundness — from development through deployment.
- Perform rigorous developer testing — including unit, integration, and regression testing as appropriate — before releasing changes to production.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues quickly and effectively to minimize downtime, data-processing disruption, client impact, and operational risk.
- Collaborate closely with other software engineers, the Client Implementation, Compliance, Business Operations, and IT Operations teams, and the CTO to prioritize and deliver technical initiatives, and to establish and maintain consistent coding standards, design patterns, naming conventions, and documentation guidelines across the team.
- Handle sensitive consumer, client, and operational data responsibly, following Harvest’s security, privacy, compliance, and change-management expectations when designing, testing, deploying, and troubleshooting systems.
- Participate in Agile hybrid sprint cycles, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Create practical technical documentation, runbooks, and handoff notes that help the team support legacy systems, onboard to new platforms, and reduce single points of failure.
- Document code, processes, and system changes to support knowledge continuity through the legacy-to-cloud transition.
- Other duties as assigned by the CTO.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a demonstrated capacity to quickly learn new tools, languages, and systems as needed.
- Genuine curiosity about Harvest's business and industry, with real interest in understanding the “why” behind the work, not just the “how.”
- Sound coding and data-processing judgment, with a strong quality-assurance mindset — treats testing as a core part of the job, not an afterthought.
- Essential troubleshooting and break-fix skills, with a methodical, level-headed approach to diagnosing and resolving issues under time pressure.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while communicating clearly and collaborating effectively with a small, close-knit technical team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3–5 years of professional software development/engineering experience.
- Primarily backend-focused experience; some front-end development experience is a plus.
- Experience with some combination of the following is preferred, though proficiency with any one specific tool is secondary to overall aptitude and learning ability: C#/.NET or a similar object-oriented language (using standard tools such as Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code), SQL Server or another relational database platform, PowerShell or another scripting language, ETL/data integration tools, and cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred).
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis is very helpful.
- Comfort working within Microsoft Teams and the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem for day-to-day collaboration and communication.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent demonstrated experience and ability will be considered in place of a degree.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Pay Range: $110,000 – $120,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
- Company-subsidized employee health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off and holidays
