Job description

Open to remote work except in South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,500 to $222,900, depending on location, qualifications, skills, and experience. Actual salary will vary accordingly.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

As a Workday Payroll Senior Software Engineer III, you will collaborate with engineering teams across products. Your responsibilities include configuring, testing, and deploying changes related to Workday Payroll, Leaves, and Benefits to meet business needs. You will drive technical deliverables to ensure timely completion.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
  • Design, develop, and maintain payroll modules within the Workday ecosystem.
  • Configure payroll business processes, pay components, earnings, deductions, and tax setups.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Debug and resolve production issues and support change requests.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Compliance teams to understand business requirements.
  • Create user guides and support documentation for ongoing maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll system performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Stay updated on Workday releases and suggest enhancements proactively.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for break/fix scenarios and develop action plans.
  • Ensure full alignment with policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality of HR data and information, internal or customer-specific.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
  • Coordinate with the lead/manager to ensure timely delivery of assigned work.
  • Work with product management to understand business needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-product engineers and integration teams to meet deliverables.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience configuring payroll, leaves, and benefits.
  • 5+ years of experience specifically with Workday Payroll, Leaves, and Benefits.
  • Experience with Workday Core HCM and Advanced Compensation (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Workday Payroll architecture and processes.
  • Experience with Workday EIB, Global Core Connectors, and Report Writer.
  • At least one full Workday implementation demonstrating functional and technical expertise.
  • Understanding of the software implementation lifecycle, including integrations, design, testing, and deployment.
  • Knowledge of SaaS applications and deployment models.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an Agile environment with product owners.
  • Workday Payroll Pro Certification (preferred).
  • Attention to detail, analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and organization skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and applications quickly.
