Job summary

MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer III to design, develop, and maintain complex software systems, provide production support, and contribute to key departmental initiatives.

You will work autonomously with general guidance to deliver high-quality software. The position requires a BS/BA and 6+ years of experience, strong UI, SQL, testing, and CI/CD skills, and the ability to collaborate in an Agile Scrum environment.

Summary
Job Description

The Software Engineer III works with team to provide complex software programming for new software, production support and maintenance for existing software, as well as ad-hoc support of key departmental initiatives which drive business functions. The Software Engineer III receives general instructions on new projects and works autonomously to complete deliverables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gains a thorough understanding of functional requirements for new software requests.
  • Works with Business Systems Analysts to understand and clarify software requirements and translate into working software.
  • Designs, develops and performs testing of software to meet functional requirements.
  • Practices good software engineering techniques and standards to reduce coding errors and ensures robustness and efficiency of work products.
  • Partners with software team in the development of the software engineering processes.
  • Works to identify and resolves technical or product problems.
  • Participates in software project meetings and provides status reports.
  • Translates technical designs into working software.
  • Maintains existing applications by enhancing software and troubleshooting issues.
  • Collaborates with team members and partners with others as needed to ensure successful completion of assigned software development tasks.
  • Participates in code reviews and incorporates recommendations.
  • Applies software engineering and Object Oriented Design principles in creating UML diagrams and technical design documents for software components.
  • Partners with team members and technical project lead to ensure component design fits in with the overall solution.
  • Adopts new techniques and technologies.
  • Initiates attendance at job related training to keep skills current; maintains current understanding of the industry’s best practices.
  • Assists with mentoring and training of less experienced IT staff members.

Education And/or Experience

BS/BA and 6+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, and 2 years of SME in respective areas

Computer Skills
  • Solid understanding of UI patterns and experience with BootstrapPHP, CSS3, HTML5, JQuery, jQWidgets, JResponsiveResponsive Web Design (RWD), JSON, AJAX
  • Prior experience with front-end prototyping tool like Axure
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries and work with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MS SQL, Oracle)
  • Experience developing and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests to ensure code quality
  • Experience with remote terminal applications and protocols like ssh and putty as well as ssh key auth, single sign on, one time password 2FA, passphrase protected key files, VPN.
  • Basic network understanding in regard to client to server communications, packets, DNS, load balancers, network segmentation, tagging and control.
  • FTP familiarity – FTPS & SFTP
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, HiTrust, SOC1/2, and automated code review tools.
  • Experience leveraging AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) to accelerate development, problem-solving, code review
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements and experience developing interfaces that comply to ADA/508/WCAG2.0
  • Experience using GIT— , GitHub, and BitBucket— Source Code Management tooltools
  • Experience with Maven— Build Automation tool
  • Familiarity with CI tools like Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, CheckMarx
  • Experience with Eclipse, Netbeans or IntelliJ IDE
  • Working experience with UNIXRedHat Linux environments and shell scripting
  • Experience with integrating web application’s front-end with back-end web services
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and prior experience working in Agile Scrum teams

Work Location

This position works from a remote location. Must provide adequate support to internal clients; be available for regular interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as be available to facilitate effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.

Working Hours

This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

This position requires no travel; however, attendance may be required at various local conferences and meetings.
