in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Software Engineer III) on the Data Sharing team within the Product Information Management organization to design, code, test, and support applications delivered on time and within budget. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with product managers, engineers, and architects to translate business requirements into scalable APIs and event streams that make Grainger's product data broadly available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years experience with modern software engineering and scalable apps.
• Understanding of distributed system design.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex problems and processes.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end services (APIs and stream processing) using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build applications and design solutions with engineers, architects, and analysts.
• Apply platform/domain-specific skills as required.
• Implement CI/CD and champion engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with peers on stories and coach junior engineers.
• Practice TDD, pair programming, and trunk-based development.

Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $112,900.00 – $188,100.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 10% or $, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

As a Senior Software Engineer (Software Engineer III) on the Data Sharing team in the Product Information Management organization, you will be involved in the full systems life cycle and responsible for designing, coding, configuring, testing, implementing and supporting application software and systems that are delivered on time and within budget. In addition to mentoring junior engineers, you will work closely with technical teams, stakeholders and product managers to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and physical design of technical solutions . The Data Sharing team is responsible for building and operating APIs and event streams to make product data available to all of Grainger.

You Will

Develop end-to-end services (including APIs and stream processing) using JavaandSpring Boot

You Have
