Job summary

Bank of America in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Senior Java/J2EE Developer to deliver complex business solutions. You will design, develop, and integrate services across middleware and front-end layers, ensure compliance, and uphold architecture integrity.

The role requires deep expertise with IBM WebSphere MQ, Spring, Hibernate, and REST/SOAP services, plus collaboration with distributed teams. On-site, 40-hour weeks, strong communication skills expected.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with Java/J2EE and related frameworks.
  • Experience with IBM WebSphere MQ, queues, topics, and channels.
  • Proficiency in Spring, Hibernate, Struts, and OO design.
  • Strong SQL experience with Oracle 11g+ and MS SQL Server 2008+.
  • Experience developing SOAP and RESTful web services.
  • Front-end skills: HTML, JavaScript, JSP, JSF, HTML5/CSS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work with distributed/offshore teams.

Responsibilities

  • Code solutions and unit test to meet acceptance criteria and compliance.
  • Design and modify architecture components and interfaces.
  • Mentor other engineers and coach CI/CD practices.
  • Refine stories, define requirements, estimate work.
  • Perform spike/POC as needed.
  • Automate release activities.
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites.

This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

Responsibilities
  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
  • Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
  • Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Automates manual release activities
  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience Java/J2EE
  • 7+ development using IBM Stack - WebSphere, WebSphere MQ, Operational Data Model (ODM)
  • Java Frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Struts
  • JDBC, Oracle 11g+, MS SQL Server 2008+
  • Experience working with IBM WebSphere MQ 6+, Queues, Topics, Channels, Publish/Subscribe, Apache & Tomcat
  • UML for creating Sequence Diagrams, Deployment Diagrams, Activity Diagrams etc.
  • Develop Soap and RESTful webservices using JAXWS, JAXRS and Spring
  • Develop Message Oriented applications using Spring JMS, WebSphere MQ
  • Develop backend processing jobs using Spring
  • Frontend Web Application development using HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, JSP, Struts, JSF, HTML 5/CSS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with distributed team including offshore
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficient in using Agile Methodologies and Rally software
  • Knowledge of full software development life cycle, including writing stories, low level documentation, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing
  • Enterprise integrations patterns

  • Mortgage Domain knowledge is a Plus
