Job summary

Amazon in Sunnyvale is seeking a seasoned Software Development Engineer to build and shipping software for next-generation personal devices and agentic AI experiences. You will own features end to end—from design to production—across on-device components, services, and AI integration layers.

Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for large systems.
1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, test, and operate high-quality software components and features for personal device experiences, owning them from design through production.
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews, raising the quality bar for yourself and the team.
Partner with senior engineers to translate product and design requirements into sound technical designs, making pragmatic trade-offs across performance, reliability, and time-to-market.
Debug and resolve issues across the stack — on-device software, backend services, and AI/agent integration layers — and improve the systems that surface them.
Contribute to operational excellence: build monitoring, alarming, and automation that keep services healthy, and participate in on-call rotations.
Collaborate across engineering, applied science, design, and product to ship features on schedule, communicating status and risks clearly.
Continuously learn — new tools, frameworks, and agentic AI capabilities — and bring that knowledge back to the team.
