Job summary

JPMorganChase in Tampa seeks a Software Engineer II to contribute to real-time payments technology on an agile team. You’ll design, develop, deploy, and troubleshoot trusted software in a secure, scalable way, working across the payments ecosystem and cloud infrastructure to move money globally.

You will use enterprise AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, participate in code reviews, and ensure robust, resilient systems while advancing your engineering expertise within a leading

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages.
  • Experience using enterprise AI-assisted software development tools with ability to evaluate AI outputs.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD and security.

Responsibilities

  • Executes standard software solution design, development, and troubleshooting.
  • Execute deployments, ensuring smooth implementation of updates and changes.
  • Perform PLM and SR activities to maintain system stability and performance.
  • Support daily production issues with RCA for core and code problems.
  • Collaborate with Operations to address breaks in debit/credit processes.
  • Leverage AI coding assist tools to improve code quality and delivery speed, with peer review and secure coding practices.
  • Designs and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream/downstream systems.
  • Apply SDLC tools and automation capabilities to improve value of automation.
  • Gathers and analyzes data to inform decision-making for secure, stable development.
  • Learn and apply processes for secure, stable code and systems.

As a Software Engineer II at JPMorganChase within the Payments Technology group, you will be a key contributor on an agile team designing and delivering trusted, market-leading technology in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You'll work at the intersection of real-time payments, cloud infrastructure, and intelligent automation — helping drive meaningful change across critical financial systems. Job responsibilities
  • Executes standard software solution, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
  • Execute monthly or quarterly deployments, ensuring smooth and efficient implementation of updates and changes.
  • Perform Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Service Request (SR) activities to maintain system stability and performance.
  • Support daily production issues by conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for core and code-related problems.
  • Collaborate with Operations and other relevant teams to address and resolve breaks in debit or credit processes.
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
  • Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
  • Applies technical troubleshooting to breakdown solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
  • Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
  • Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
  • Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience working with high-volume, low-latency data processing systems
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, messaging technologies such as MQ and Kafka, in-memory data grids, and relational databases
  • Exposure to modern front-end technologies and full-stack development practices
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies and distributed systems architecture
