Johnson Health Tech North America is seeking a Software Engineer II to drive software development across embedded firmware, mobile, desktop, web, and cloud platforms for connected fitness products.

You will own features within projects, collaborate with Product Management, and help scale solutions for global manufacturing and Asia-based sourcing. This role emphasizes fast iteration and practical problem solving.

Qualifikationen

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager – KT Innovation, the Software Engineer II will conduct engineering research and development projects to support Key Technology (KT) and New Product Development (NPD) of Fitness Equipment. The role is considered a generalist and spans the full range of software found in connected fitness products, from embedded firmware and device software to mobile, desktop, web, and cloud applications.

The Software Engineer II owns features independently within a project. This position requires a creative and flexible individual who can stretch to support the specific needs of the development situation and manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be willing to move fast, fail early, iterate, and consistently deliver.

This is a non-supervisory position.

Responsibilities

• Understand and integrate potential new technologies, features, modalities/ergonomics into Johnson products
• Design, implement, test, and debug software across the product stack, from embedded firmware to mobile, web, and cloud applications
• Create proof-of-concepts (PoC) and partner with the Product Management team for review and refinement
• Evaluate and test for viability and risk mitigation
• Feed new product development by successfully and smoothly transitioning PoC’s to engineering teams based on Asia sourcing and manufacturing
• Develop and document design and specifications
• Participate in code reviews
• Contribute to new intellectual property and intellectual property workarounds
• Other projects as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent experience

Required Experience

• Typically, 2-5 years of professional software development experience, or equivalent
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Kotlin, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Understanding of object‑oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
• Version control (i.e. Git)
• Write clear technical documentation
• Application development in mobile (Android/iOS), desktop, or web
• Continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD)
• Strong and creative problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals

Bonus Qualifications

• Exposure to embedded systems and development in C/C++
• Linux application development, driver development, and OS building
• Automated testing and unit testing
• Development in React native or React web
• Exposure to cloud services
• Exposure to machine learning
• Exposure to single‑board computers (i.e. Raspberry Pi)
• Ability to interact with, program, and debug physical hardware
• Basic networking knowledge (ports, sockets, REST)

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position operates in a typical office environment with usually moderate noise levels and requires regular use of a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls; frequently required to talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required, along with some evenings or early mornings for international conference calls or events. Physical Requirements
