Job summary

National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) seeks an experienced Software Engineer II-III to design and implement software that advances NRAO science, including expanding RFI mitigation and site spectrum monitoring.

You will collaborate across NRAO telescope sites to develop unified solutions and contribute to tools for the ngVLA while maintaining existing systems. A CS/engineering degree and hands-on Python (PyQt6) and web tech experience are required.

Qualifications

• One+ year of software development experience.
• Python and SQLAlchemy experience.
• Native Python GUI with PyQt6 experience.
• Understand object-oriented design and ORM.
• Version control, testing, and CI/CD experience.
• Web frontend: Angular, webpack, bootstrap.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance RFI-focused software systems.
