Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer II in Temple, TX for a hybrid role (office 3 days per week; within 50 minutes of Temple). You will design, develop, test, and maintain software supporting warehouse, distribution, purchasing, inventory, sales orders, and EDI processes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS or equivalent and 5+ years on IBM i (AS/400) with RPG. Strong analytical and communication skills, plus collaboration with stakeholders, are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development in an IBM i (AS400/iSeries) environment.
• Strong RPG development experience.
• Experience creating requirements, specs, tests, and user testing support.
• Experience supporting production applications and issue resolution.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to read/write in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, estimate, develop, test, and implement software solutions that meet business requirements, timelines, and budgets.
• Analyze business needs and translate into functional and technical specifications.
• Develop and maintain applications supporting warehouse, distribution, purchasing, inventory, sales order, and EDI processes.
• Create documentation including requirements, designs, test plans, and procedures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify process improvements and technology solutions.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application issues and user requests.
• Participate in user acceptance testing and production deployment activities.
• Support deployments, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Monitor system performance, reliability, and data integrity.
• Provide after-hours on-call support as part of rotating schedule.
