Job summary

Flywire is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to contribute to our billing and payments product that handles hundreds of millions in value for colleges and universities. This full-stack role requires balancing pragmatic design with secure, scalable delivery and collaboration across global teams.

We value a strong Java background, MySQL, and Spring/Hibernate stacks, along with frontend skills (HTML/CSS/JS/JSP). You will work with US-based engineers and product teams, using AI-assisted development

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of professional experience in application development.
• Proven track record as a Java developer in production environments.
• Experience in FinTech or Higher Education sectors is appreciated.
• Familiarity with student billing/tuition workflows is a plus.
• Ability to deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Design, build, and maintain high-quality, testable code in our billing and payments system.
• AI-Leveraged Exploration: Use AI tools to assist in code exploration, test scaffolding, and producing production-quality code.
• Quality & Security: Ensure security, quality, scalability, and performance are maintained.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively across engineering and product teams.
• Collaborative Problem Solving: Participate in solutioning meetings and debate pros/cons calmly.
