Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Technology team in Hartford, CT. The role involves end-to-end engineering tasks: design, develop, test, and document systems, while collaborating with users and teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.

Ideal candidates have at least four years of programming experience, cloud expertise (AWS/Azure), API development, IaC proficiency, and strong scripting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
• 4 additional years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and modern development practices.
• Proficiency with API development (REST/GraphQL) and IaC tooling (Terraform/AWS CDK).
• Strong scripting (JavaScript/TypeScript/Python) and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform design, development, and configuration tasks with high accuracy and speed as an individual contributor.
• Analyze and resolve defects of advanced complexity; escalate when needed.
• Tackle problems independently and expand technical knowledge.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Contribute to software design strategy and timely delivery in small batches.
• Collaborate with teams to meet system requirements and tradeoffs.
