Join to apply for the Software Engineer II role at Ambry Genetics.

Compensation: $105,000 - $125,000 per year. Eligible for a Short-Term Incentive Plan with a target of 7.5% of annual earnings; terms apply.

Software Engineer II – Remote

Software engineers design and develop custom software, systems, and integrations. They work with a team of software engineers, QA engineers, and business analysts in an agile/scrum environment to deliver enhanced product value. Responsibilities include coding, designing technical solutions, participating in scrum ceremonies, and collaborating with stakeholders to understand workflows and requests. Level 2 engineers are expected to complete assigned tasks and use critical thinking to identify issues, resolve problems, and propose enhancements.

Essential Functions

• Design and develop software based on specifications
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving feedback
• Engage in scrum ceremonies like backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily standups
• Meet with stakeholders to understand workflows
• Assist leads, curate tickets, and analyze workflows
• Monitor processes, log information, troubleshoot problems
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years in software engineering
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards (HL7, CCDA (XML), FHIR, REST APIs) and integration technologies
• Experience managing end-to-end projects from discovery to post-go-live monitoring
• Ability to translate functional requirements into technical specifications
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages like Java, Python, or .NET
• Understanding of SOLID principles
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL)
• Ability to handle structured and unstructured data formats like JSON, CSV, XML
• Experience with EMR data pipelines, HL7 integrations, and AWS cloud infrastructure
• Experience with web services (REST, SOAP, AMQP)
• Proficiency with version control systems like Git
• Experience with AWS cloud platform
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Critical thinking skills for monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementation planning

Preferred

• Healthcare experience with Epic, certifications
