About the Role

You’ll be writing backend services and helping design systems that manage a complex set of business rules and allow those rules to map to deterministic outcomes. You enjoy making sure that all the logic branches of your system are well understood and tested, focusing on engineering excellence. You enjoy building APIs that are joyful to consume and ensuring everyone understands the lifecycle events of the services you build.

Responsibilities

• Build high-quality APIs and web services providing scalable, efficient, and tailored interfaces.
• Design, document, and deploy public interfaces that are a joy to consume.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders including product, design, sales, and others to translate business requirements into actionable plans.
• Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers (SRE) to develop and deliver applications within a stable, repeatable, and joyful software development lifecycle.
• Develop test cases and enhance automated testing suites to ensure engineering excellence.
• Contribute to making Coalition a better place by addressing unforeseen and important issues as they arise.

Skills and Qualifications

• API and service development experience in Python and/or Go.
• Fundamentals of cloud-native development, including horizontal scaling, 12-factor applications, security basics like OWASP, etc.
• Experience with error assessment tools such as Sentry, DataDog, Jaeger/Zipkin, GreyLog, or AppDynamics.
• Proficiency with container-based deployment and development using Docker.
• Experience with multiple transports and formats like REST, gRPC, GraphQL.
• Proficiency with source control tools such as git, svn, or Perforce.
• Experience working in agile teams using tools like Atlassian Suite, GitHub, or GitLab.
• 3-5+ years of combined internship and/or professional development experience.
• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-have skills

• Experience serving large user bases (100,000+ users).
• Development experience in distributed, event-driven, and message-driven architectures.

Compensation

The US base salary ranges from $99,000 to $130,000 per year, depending on geographic location and other factors. Your recruiter can provide specific details during the interview process. Coalition reserves the right to modify this range as needed.
