Job summary

ICONMA's client, a Biotech company in South San Francisco, is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, build, and optimize software platforms enabling faster clinical trial development.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement responsive interfaces in ReactJS, and develop automated test suites while driving CI/CD and cloud infrastructure with AWS, Docker/Kubernetes and IaC in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building scalable production web apps.
• Proficiency in Python with FastAPI/Flask/Django.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/ReactJS for frontend.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD, and IaC.
• Experience writing automated tests for frontend and backend.
• Familiarity with data-intensive apps and regulatory standards (21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA/GDPR).

Our client, a Biotech company, is looking for a Software Engineer II for their South San Francisco, CA location.

Responsibilities:

• The Client Research and Early Development (gRED), Early Clinical Development Informatics (ECDi) department is seeking an experienced Software Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing tools and platforms that enable the acceleration of clinical trial development, ultimately bringing life-changing medicines to patients faster.
• Work collaboratively with a cross functional team of engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable end-to-end software solutions
• Build, and maintain highly responsive and intuitive user interfaces and applications using modern JavaScript and ReactJS
• Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive test automation suites (unit, integration, and end-to-end) using tools such as Playwright, PyTest and Jest to ensure high code quality and software reliability
• Drive DevOps best practices by building and managing robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI) for automated testing and continuous deployment
• Provision, manage, and monitor cloud infrastructure (AWS) utilizing containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle within an Agile environment, including system design, coding, code reviews, and architecture planning

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on building, and supporting scalable production web applications
• Effective use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) to enhance coding efficiency, testing, and documentation
• Proficiency in backend development using Python (experience with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django)
• Proficiency in frontend development using JavaScript (ES6+) and ReactJS
• Experience with AWS, and modern DevOps/deployment practices (Docker, CI/CD tools, IaC)
• Experience writing automated tests and working with modern testing frameworks for both front-end and back-end
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Experience building data-intensive applications that manipulate and visualize complex datasets
• Hands-on experience providing operational support for production applications, including system monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure troubleshooting
• Experience designing and developing robust end-to-end automated test frameworks to ensure quality and reliability across complex production web applications
• Proficiency in SQL for writing complex queries, and optimizing database performance (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Knowledge of industry data standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, GxPand HIPAA/GDPR)
