Job summary

Scientific Research Corporation is seeking a Software Engineer II to support on-site development for the Ship's Signal Exploitation Equipment family. You will identify and orchestrate integration across software branches and refactor legacy code to improve efficiency and modularity.

The role requires 2+ years of software development experience with Java, Python, or Node.js, RESTful API work, and CI/CD tooling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of software development experience.
• Proficient in Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Experience developing/integrating RESTful APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, Bitbucket).
• DoD 8570 IAT II certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Strong written communication and ability to express ideas clearly.
• Self-starter with ability to multitask and work on multiple tasks with deadlines.

Responsibilities

Estimated Starting Salary Range: USD $84,000.00/Yr. - USD $139,950.00/Yr. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

Description

Providing on-site development and supporting to the Ship's Signal Exploitation Equipment (SSEE) Family of Systems

• Identifying, de conflicting and orchestrating integration of competing software branches
• Refactoring legacy Java/JavaScript code for efficiency enhancements
• Building modular and highly re-usable code
• Self-directing research, including decomposition of existing systems and design of new systems and configurations
• Researching and implementing integrations between various new/existing systems to provide new functionality
• Troubleshooting existing Java code
• Researching and recommending new innovative system features as well as improvements for existing system functionality

Requirements

• Minimum of two plus (2+) years of software development experience
• Coding experience in one or more of the following:
  • Java
  • Python
  • Node.js
• Experience developing/integrating Restful APIs
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline common tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, BitBucket or similar) and practices
• Must currently hold a DoD 8570-compliant IAT II certification (SSCP or Security+ CE with appropriate CE/OS certificate) or be able to obtain within six months
• Have developed communication skills and the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely,employing technical writing techniques
• Must be a team player, dedicated to program support, capable of multitasking and working several complex and diverse tasks with simultaneous or near simultaneous deadlines
• Be a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas

Desired Skills

• Experience with multi-threaded, asynchronous or event driven code
• Familiarization with container concepts
• Experience with cloud technology platforms such as AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud
• Experience with real-time streaming data and/or socket programming
• Experience with RedHat based Linux
• Experience creating and deploying Linux services
• Experience creating and deploying an RPM
• Understanding of network fundamentals
