Job summary

ProService Hawaii is seeking an experienced software engineer to own the integrations marketplace that links our customers’ business systems to our HR platform. You’ll design, build, and launch production-grade integrations with Toast, QuickBooks Online, and NetSuite using OAuth 2.0, webhooks, and polling.

You’ll work in a hybrid model out of Honolulu with some remote options in California, own end-to-end flows, monitor reliability, and collaborate directly with customers and partners to shape

Qualifications

• Familiarity with platform integrations in payroll, HR, or financial systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and launch integrations with platforms like Toast, QuickBooks Online, and NetSuite using OAuth 2.0, webhooks, and polling.
• Own the integrations marketplace end-to-end, including catalog, connect/disconnect flows, connection health, and a roadmap aligned with Product.
• Architect reusable serverless patterns on AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, DynamoDB) in Python/TypeScript/React to ship integrations faster.
• Partner with customers and vendor programs for sandbox access, certification, and API changes.
• Build monitoring and alerting to catch sync failures before customers notice.
• Uphold code quality through testing, code reviews, and CI/CD; support production reliability via on-call rotations.

More than 3,000 local businesses rely on us for payroll, HR, and benefits, and many run their day on tools like Toast, QuickBooks Online, and NetSuite. When those systems talk cleanly to ours, a restaurant owner closes payroll without re-keying hours. When they don’t, a small business loses time it doesn’t have.

This role owns that connection. You’ll build and run the integrations marketplace that links our customers’ business systems to our HR platform, blending strong engineering with real product ownership. Success looks like customers connecting in minutes, data that stays accurate without manual work, and problems fixed before anyone has to report them.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

• Design, build, and launch integrations with platforms like Toast, QuickBooks Online, and NetSuite using OAuth 2.0, webhooks, and polling
• Own the integrations marketplace end to end, including the catalog, connect and disconnect flows, connection health, and a roadmap prioritized with Product
• Architect reusable serverless patterns on AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, DynamoDB) in Python, TypeScript, and React/Next.js so each integration ships faster than the last
• Partner directly with customers on bespoke integrations with ProService APIs, and with vendor developer programs on sandbox access, certification, and API changes
• Build monitoring and alerting that catches sync failures before customers notice
• Uphold code quality through testing, code reviews, and CI/CD, and support production reliability through on-call rotations

IS THIS ROLE RIGHT FOR YOU

This is an ownership role, not a ticket queue. You’ll ship at least one production-ready integration per quarter and keep owning it after launch, including joining the on-call rotation to resolve critical issues within hours. You’ll also talk directly with customers and partners to shape what gets built next. These expectations are not optional — they’re the job. You’ll share them with a team that reviews each other’s code and treats incidents as chances to learn, not to assign blame.

The role also takes patience. Partner APIs change, certifications move at their own pace, and many decisions are judgment calls between fast and durable. The team works on Hawai?i Standard Time, so Southern California candidates should expect a workday that starts mid-morning and runs into the early evening.

What You’ll Bring To The Team

You’ve shipped production-grade software in a SaaS or product-driven environment, and you’ve built third-party integrations that stay reliable. That means experience with OAuth 2.0 token lifecycle, webhooks, pagination, data mapping, and vendor API versioning. You’re fluent in AWS serverless, Python, TypeScript, React/Next.js, and Git-based Agile workflows. Accounting, POS, time and labor, or payroll familiarity is a strong plus. So is experience with partner certification programs or with AI/LLM APIs for data mapping.

• You make sound calls between fast and durable. When an API change collides with a deadline, you weigh a quick patch against a retry-safe fix and choose the path that keeps customer data safe.
• You keep your commitments when priorities compete. You juggle a new build, a production fix, and a partner certification, and everyone waiting on you knows when their piece is coming.
• You adjust quickly when the ground shifts. When a vendor deprecates an endpoint mid-sprint, you re-plan and keep customers connected without them noticing.
• You translate between technical and non-technical worlds. You explain trade-offs in plain language and bring Product, Support, and customers in early, so what you ship solves the real problem.

WORK LOCATION

Honolulu, Hawaii — Hybrid | Orange County or Los Angeles, CA — Remote

We welcome applications from candidates based in Hawaii, who would work a hybrid schedule out of our Honolulu office, as well as fully remote candidates based in Orange County or Los Angeles. Hawaii-based candidates are preferred, followed by candidates in Orange County. Remote candidates must be available during Hawaii Standard Time (HST / UTC-10) business hours.

Compensation

The base compensation for this position is $110,000.00 – $137,000.00 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
