Job summary

Gilbarco Veeder-Root, a Vontier company, is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Automatic Tank Gauge team in Hartford, CT. You will design, develop, and deliver software solutions for our fuel management platforms, applying modern stacks and Agile practices to accelerate delivery.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help drive architectural decisions while leveraging REST APIs, CI pipelines, and cloud services to build reliable, scalable solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience developing software in object-oriented languages, ideally C++ or Java.
  • Project leadership experience preferred; experience with CI and automated tests is useful; REST APIs and JSON are useful; AWS or Azure experience is useful.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute software solutions for the Automatic Tank Gauge and related platforms.
  • Apply newer technology stacks and frameworks and help the team adopt them.
  • Use Agile methodologies to improve the performance of Agile teams.
  • Collaborate with peers, electrical and mechanical teams, QA, and others to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers on design and coding best practices and transfer knowledge about newer technologies.

What you will do
  • Design, develop, and execute software solutions to address business needs on our Automated Tank Gauge and related platforms
  • Bring your knowledge of newer technology stacks and frameworks, and identify where they should be applied, helping the rest of the team get up to speed.
  • Use your experience with Agile methodologies to improve the working of our Agile teams
  • Collaborate with peers, electrical and mechanical development teams, quality assurance and others as needed to produce game changing solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers on best practices in design and coding as well as transfer technical knowledge about newer technologies
Qualifications
  • Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 Years of experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages. Ideally C++ or Java.
  • Project leadership experience is preferred
  • Experience with continuous integration and automated test technologies is useful
  • Experience with REST APIs and JSON is useful
  • Experience with AWS or Azure (and associated services) is useful

The base compensation range for this position is $96,800 to $124,600 per annum. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon numerous factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.
