Summary of This Role

As our Software Engineer II, you will work throughout the software development life cycle, performing in a utility capacity to create, design, code, debug, maintain, test, implement, and validate applications with a broad understanding of various languages and architectures. You will analyze existing applications or formulate logic for new applications, procedures, flowcharting, coding, and debugging programs. You will maintain and utilize application and programming documents in the development of code, recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards, and create deliverables and application implementation plans throughout the development lifecycle in a flexible environment.

What Part Will You Play?

• Develop basic to moderately complex code using front-end and/or back-end programming languages across multiple platforms, collaborating with business and technology teams for internal and external software solutions. Design, create, and deliver program specifications for code development and support on multiple projects, with a broad understanding of application and database interactions.
• Analyze, modify, and develop code and perform unit testing to produce clear documentation. Conduct testing and validation for code changes, perform corrective actions for code deficiencies, and escalate issues as needed.
• Participate in client meetings, joint venture discussions, and vendor partnerships to determine solution approaches.
• Support leadership in designing, developing, and enforcing business and infrastructure application standards, including controls, procedures, and monitoring to ensure compliance and data accuracy, including PCI security standards.
• Provide basic estimates for billable hours and resources for initiatives and projects.
• Assist with on-the-job training and guide other software engineers.

What Are We Looking For in This Role?

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business/Management Information Systems, or related field
• Mainframe COBOL experience with a minimum of 4 years in coding, designing, developing, and analyzing data. Advanced knowledge of one or more front-end/back-end languages/technologies and a moderate understanding of others, including APIs, external services, and relational/NoSQL databases.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS in a related field
• 6+ years of professional experience in coding, designing, developing, and analyzing data, with experience using IBM Rational tools.
