Job summary

ForSaleByOwner.com, operated by Redfin, seeks a Software Engineer to build and maintain scalable web apps. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to implement features, review code, test rigorously, and resolve listing visibility issues for users.

You will work with backend tech (Node.js, Go, PHP), databases (SQL/NoSQL), and web tech (HTML/CSS/JS). The role includes on-call rotation to support production and ongoing improvement of development processes.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of professional experience in software development.
• Proven experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Go, PHP).
• Familiarity with backend technologies (Node.js, Go, PHP).
• Experience or willingness to learn web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL).
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git).

Responsibilities

• Architect, code, and maintain high-quality software solutions.
• Develop new features and improve existing functionalities on our platform.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and implement product requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure reliability and performance.
• Identify and resolve bugs and issues in a timely manner.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies.
• Contribute to improvement of development processes and tools.
• Experience using AI code generation tools such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
• Create and maintain clear, concise documentation for code, APIs, and systems.
• Help users with listings and respond to Right to Know, Right to Access, Right to Delete requests.
