Job summary

Handshake is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Quality team in San Francisco, in-office five days a week. You will build and scale backend systems that evaluate data quality for frontier AI labs, and develop infrastructure for real-time quality checks before final delivery to customers.

You’ll design recommendation systems and data pipelines to surface actionable quality signals and support internal operators.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building backend services or data-heavy systems.
• Strong fundamentals in system design, testing, debugging, and reliability.
• Data-driven approach to problem solving and measurement.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale backend systems that evaluate data quality for frontier AI labs.
• Develop infrastructure for real-time quality checks before delivery to customers.
• Design recommendation systems to select effective quality checks per project.
• Build data pipelines and measurement systems to surface complex quality signals.
• Develop APIs and platform capabilities for use by other teams and tools.
• Surface Quality capabilities through MCP and AI-native interfaces for internal operators.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, product teams, and operations to solve scalable quality problems.
• Improve reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of quality workflows as the business grows.
