Job summary

Handshake is seeking a Software Engineer I to own the full stack of fellow-facing experiences and internal tools. You’ll work across Growth, Product, Operations, and ML to translate ambiguous needs into reliable software that scales with the business.

You will collaborate with operators to improve processes, build automation, and ship customer-facing features while maintaining strong engineering practices and high EQ in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Own production systems end-to-end from requirements to production support.
• Collaborate with Growth, Product, Operations, and ML to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Design scalable architectures and balance speed with long-term maintainability.
• Lead technical projects with multiple contributors and strong ownership.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and own core experiences across the fellow platform.
• Embed with operators to map processes and build internal tools and automation.
• Partner with Growth, Operations, Product, and ML to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Lead projects end-to-end from discovery to rollout and iteration.
• Drive architectural improvements to reduce technical debt and scale the platform.
• Balance rapid delivery with maintainability and security.
