Job summary

Textron Systems in Wilmington, MA, is seeking a hands-on Software/Embedded Systems Engineer to join the UAS development team. You will develop C software for embedded Linux, integrate ROS/ROS2 nodes, and work closely with hardware for sensor and avionics integration.

The role emphasizes practical engineering, system-level debugging, and contributing to advanced UAS capabilities across next-gen platforms used to protect warfighters.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or completed B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Strong proficiency in C.
• Experience developing on embedded Linux platforms.
• Ability to debug complex system interactions across hardware and software.
• Understanding of embedded systems concepts (I/O interfaces, timing, networking, real-time considerations).
• Familiarity with CM, defect tracking, and CI tools (GitLab, Jenkins).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain C software for UAS systems on embedded Linux.
• Implement and integrate ROS/ROS2 nodes for autonomy, perception, control, or sensor handling.
• Participate in software lifecycle from concept to lab integration and field testing.
• Perform hardware integration with sensors, payloads, and compute hardware.
• Troubleshoot system-level issues across software, hardware interfaces and networking.
• Collaborate in design reviews and contribute to architecture and best practices.
