Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico is seeking a Software Engineer to join a dynamic, onsite team. You will collaborate on system requirements, translate them into software requirements and diagrams, and develop code that meets customer and certification standards.

Join a cross-functional team, contribute to testing environments, and ensure quality implementations while communicating effectively in English. Relocation is not offered; on-site work five days a week in PR.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Educational knowledge and project work in software development using Python, C++, or similar.
• Familiarity with software development processes (Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD) and tools (Git, Gitlab, JIRA).
• Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
• U.S. citizenship is required for access to information under this program/contract.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location and is to be worked Onsite , 5 days a week. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What YOU will do:

• Collaborate on System Requirements and Software Development: Join a dynamic software team in a cross-functional environment, contributing to the definition of system requirements and translating them into detailed software requirements, UML/SysML models, and diagrams for a large-scale program
• Effective Communication and Team Collaboration: Work closely with other software engineers and team members to ensure clear communication and collaboration, fostering a cohesive, solution-focused environment across multiple disciplines
• Develop Code to Meet Customer and Certification Standards: Collaborate with your team to maintain, enhance, and develop software that aligns with customer requirements and meets certification standards, ensuring both functionality and compliance
• Software Implementation in Test Environments: Take responsibility for producing high-quality software implementations and integrating them within testing environments, ensuring the code is thoroughly tested and meets all specified requirements

Qualifications you must have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
• Educational knowledge and project application on software development using Python, C++, or similar, including debugging, integration, and deployment on software platforms.
• Familiarity with software development processes (e.g., Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD) and tools (e.g., Git, Gitlab, JIRA).
• Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Knowledge in basic Linux shell scripting, Python or Perl
• Working knowledge of programming languages such as C++ or C#
• Software level debugging experience.
• Experience with Database technologies
• Familiarity with Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Coverity.
