Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Aguadilla, PR is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer I to design, develop, integrate and verify Military Avionics solutions within the Flight Management & Controls team. Work in a hybrid role with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote, collaborating with top engineers on defense programs that matter.

You will gain experience across the Software Development Lifecycle, engage with cross-functional teams, and contribute to Next Gen FMS using Collins Aerospace engineering processes.

Qualifications

The Global Engineering Center in Puerto Rico is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer I, to join our Military Avionics organization. We are in search of a strong, passionate and action-oriented candidate with a collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations. This person will be part of the Flight Management & Controls team. In this role you will be responsible for design, development, integration and verification activities in a hands-on work environment to address and implement Military Avionics solutions. Here, you’ll collaborate with top-tier engineers and industry experts, leveraging advanced technologies to push the boundaries of what’s possible. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

What YOU will do:

Support programs on Software Development Lifecycle activities (Requirements, Design, Code, Testing, etc.). Perform in a cross-functional agile team to deliver Program milestones. Work in close coordination with other system/software engineers within the domain to support Next Gen FMS using Collins Aerospace engineering processes. Travel is possible for this position, estimating <10% of the year.

Qualifications you must have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience. Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written). U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Airborne Software development/testing experience. RTCA/DO-178 (or similar) certification-based experience. Knowledge in AGILE/Waterfall methods. Communication Protocols experience: ARINC 429, MIL-STD 1553, etc. Programming Language experience: C/C++, Python, Ada 95 etc. Knowledge of Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, LynxOS, etc. Experience with Tools/Processes: GitLab, SVN, Jira, JAMA, Confluence, DOORS, etc.
