Job summary

Everfox seeks a Software Engineer I in Richardson, TX to enhance product capabilities for security-conscious government and commercial customers. You will develop, test, and support cross-domain products within a cohesive team, with growth opportunities across Linux-based technologies.

The role is hybrid (2–3 days in office) near Richardson, TX, with a self-motivated, learning-focused candidate prepared to work in a fast-paced security environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, project managers and QA engineers to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions using Linux-based, server-side technologies and related tools.
• Research, design, develop, document, analyze, test, debug and integrate capabilities into new and existing applications.
• Stay up to date on current best practices, trends, and industry developments and actively share knowledge with team members.
• Assist with day-to-day management of a small data center.
• Provide donuts for the team if you break the nightly build.

We’re hiring for a hybrid role. You’ll work on-site with your team several days each week (typically 2-3), with the specific days set by your manager. Because regular in-person collaboration is central to this job, we look for candidates who live within about 50 miles of the office.

About The Role

We have an immediate need for a Software Engineer I to enhance capabilities of our products for security-conscious government & commercial customers. The Software Engineer I will be developing and testing new product capabilities, supporting existing functionality, and supporting cross-domain products. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, working in a cohesive team environment, willing to grow and learn wide set of technical skills.

Location: Richardson, TX - Hybrid (2 to 3 days in office)

Key Responsibilities

• Working collaboratively with other software engineers, product managers, project managers and quality assurance engineers to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions using Linux based, server-side technologies and related tools
• Researching, designing, developing, documenting, analyzing, testing, debugging and integrating capabilities into new and existing applications
• Remaining up to date on all current best practices, trends, and industry developments and actively sharing that knowledge with other team members
• Assist with the day-to-day management of a small data center
• Provide donuts for the team if you break the nightly build

Qualifications And Experience

• BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Software Engineering or equivalent work experience
• Self-motivated and flexible to changing tasks
• Strong desire to learn new skills and tools as needed.
• Experience with software development in Linux environments using a variety of programming and scripting languages including Lua, Java, Python, Go, C/C++, and/or bash
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking & related protocols (such as HTTP, SSH, IPSEC, TLS/SSL, etc.)
• Basic understanding of private and public keys and or certificates
• Experience with version control technologies such as Git
• Red Hat Enterprise, Fedora or Ubuntu Linux operating systems
• Ability to obtain security clearance if needed.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is:

$74,100.00-107,300.00 USD

The actual salary offered may vary within the range based on a candidates' unique experience, locale, and business needs. In addition to a base salary and bonus plans, Everfox offers a generous benefits package including flexible PTO, a 401k match, and contribution to healthcare coverages.
