Tebra is seeking a SDE1 Back-End Engineer to lead development of its Practice Management platform. You will design and implement architectural solutions to modernize our services and scale with our growing business needs.

  • Collaborate with PMs, designers, and cross-functional teams to architect robust solutions.
  • Build, test, and maintain critical services underpinning product features.
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold codebase standards.
  • Engage in Agile processes, sprint planning, standups, and backlog grooming.
  • Research emerging tech to improve development processes and product quality.
  • Use AI tools to support the software development process.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic SDE1 Back-End Engineer to lead the development of our next-generation Practice Management platform.
This position will focus on designing and implementing architectural solutions for modernizing our platform to evolve with our growing business needs. You will lead efforts in maintaining critical services that are a key component of our operations.
You will be part of a dynamic team that thrives on innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.

Your Area of Focus
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable and maintainable software applications using Spring Boot, Java, and cloud technologies.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to architect robust and scalable solutions that meet business requirements. Provide input into the technical direction of the team and product.
  • Build, test, and maintain critical services that serve as foundational building blocks for product features, as well as improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate actively in the code review process, both by receiving constructive feedback on your own pull requests and reviewing peers' PRs to learn codebase standards and best practices.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming. Contribute to defining and prioritizing work within the team.
  • Continuously research and apply emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve the development process and product quality.
  • Use AI tools to support the software development process.
Your Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 0-1 years of professional software development experience (1+ years of internship experience desirable).
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented programming concepts, data structures and algorithms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to optimize performance, and scalability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Preferred: experience with Spring, version control, and relational databases.
  • Problem solver by nature who genuinely enjoys writing code.
  • Positive attitude with a strong desire and drive to learn.
  • Strong interest or hands-on experience in AI-focused development (e.g., building with LLM APIs, prompts engineering, or experimenting with local AI tools/frameworks).\
  • Hands-on experience with Python and related frameworks (e.g., Django, FastAPI, Flask,) is preferred.

Your specific compensation is thoughtfully determined by your experience, qualifications, the specific requirements of the role, and your Geo Zone. Beyond base compensation, Tebra offers eligible employees the opportunity for variable pay and a robust benefits package, reflecting our commitment to your overall well-being. In compliance with California pay transparency laws, the specific compensation range applicable to your Geo Zone will be shared during your initial talent screen.
