Job summary

Black Eagle Defense is seeking a Software Engineer I to support the Secure the Enterprise initiative, moving from manual security evaluation to automated, continuous monitoring, and data collection across the project lifecycle.

You will develop Pig and PySpark analytics, review data ingest tickets, and collaborate on merge requests to ensure reliable data delivery to end users and smooth day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of professional experience, or 11+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
Strong analytics development background and ability to work with Pig and PySpark.
Experience with patch management and IAVA tracking is a plus.
Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala; familiarity with NiFi and Ansible; experience in Agile environments.

SALARY RANGE

$119,000 - $176,000/year.

DUTIES

As a successful candidate for the Software Engineer I role, you will support the Secure the Enterprise initiative by helping transition from manual system security evaluation and authorization processes to a more automated and streamlined model that emphasizes continuous monitoring, efficient approvals, and network data collection across the full project lifecycle. You will assist in the creation, maintenance, and execution of Pig and/or PySpark analytics, contribute to reviewing data ingest tickets, and collaborate on merge requests with team members. In this role, you will help ensure the delivery of reliable and accurate data to end users, support day‑to‑day operational success, and investigate data flows to verify that information is being properly ingested and processed within the system.
